IONIA. Uncertain. Circa 650-600 BC. Trite or 1/3 Stater (Electrum, 14 mm, 4.73 g), Lydo-Milesian standard. Plain globular surface. Rev. Two incuse rectangles with geometric patterns. Artemision -. Classical Numismatic Group E-Auction 445 (2019), 175. Numismatica Ars Classica 154 (2025), 1263. Rosen -. SNG Kayhan -. SNG von Aulock -. Triton XXVI (2023), 245 var. (traces of letters along part of edge). Weidauer -. Very rare and with sharply struck reverse punches. Slightly porous, otherwise, good very fine.

From a European collection, formed before 2005.

This coin was struck with the same reverse dies as lot number 409, suggesting that it, too, was originally intended to bear a circular edge inscription - though no traces of it have survived. Notably, the dies on this specimen are markedly sharper and fresher than those on lot 409, indicating that it was struck earlier in the series.
